The Alameda County Faith Initiative provides
faith and community leaders with a vehicle by which
they can make a difference in the life of a foster
child or youth. The Faith Advisory Council (FAC) is
designed to raise awareness of the need for foster and
adoptive families throughout Alameda County. The
council is comprised of faith and community leaders
from all walks of life, religious affiliations, and
faith and cultural orientations. The FAC is a
non-denominational organization that is grounded in
the belief that people of faith working together
toward a common goal can make a difference.
The Faith Initiative Office (FIO),
located on International Boulevard in East Oakland, is
operated by Healthy Oakland, and manages the
day-to-day operations of the Alameda County Faith
Initiative. The
faith initiative office recruits foster and adoptive
parents in Alameda County working with
160+ churches, supports the
Saturday Academy for Young Males and the
faith-based, Fatherhood Train-the-Trainer Program. |
